What up y'all First off I got a bunch of late Christmas
stuff in the mail from you guys, thank you all so much you're all the best :) This week has been kind of crazy, tedious,
different, and good. As those of you who actually read my emails may
remember, last Tuesday President split up the dynamic duo and I randomly got
transferred to the Ellerslie Ward because this zone needed zone leaders. The whitewash (that's what its called when
both companions get transferred into the area at the same time, basically it
just means neither of us know the area or the people one bit) has been quite
the challenge so far.
Out of the three times I have whitewashed on my mission
so far this time is definitely the most challenging, because we got left with
very little information about the people in the area, and it's all scattered
throughout different apps/documents. It feels like a big puzzle. I'm always down for a good challenge though. Elder Anderson is
totally awesome! I'm amazed by how blessed i have been with great companions my
whole mission. We don't have a whole lot in common but we get along great
and both want to work hard.
As for the
area itself, its pretty small. It is covers a little bit of the
south-central part of the city. So I got moved from the southwest to the
south central :). We live in a house. It's pretty old and small, but it's
still our very own house so that's kinda cool. Apparently next week we will
have some other elders moving in because they have cockroaches. The ward seems totally awesome! We
haven't met that many members yet but they seem to love the missionaries and
have a strong desire to share the Gospel.
We have a couple recent converts who are a big focus right now: Amber and
Mary. They both got baptized a few months back but are now struggling.
We haven't been able to meet with them yet. Thats kind of the stage we are
in with everybody. We have just been calling and stopping by tons of
people trying to set things up. We have a few appointments set up for
later this week, we are pumped. Oh and don't worry, we definitely did lots
of frigid tracting this week as well :).
Sunday night we had a pretty awesome miracle. We both fasted that
day to be able to find a new investigator. We tracted a bunch of townhouses
(my favourite) that night and after like 4 in a row of pretty hardcore
rejection we weren't expecting too much success on the next row of houses, but
we knocked anyway and the very next door a woman named Sylvia let us into her
entry way to warm up real quick, and started asking us a bunch of awesome
questions and we taught her about the Restoration and the Book of Mormon,
committed her to read and pray and set up a return appointment! She seems
super prepared. She is currently seeking out more truth and guidance from God
in her life, and is super open minded. I am REALLY hoping she isn't just another
"one and done". She seems so prepared and I really believe God
led us to her.
Well the more time i
spend writing this, the less time I have to destroy in our zone Nerf war we are
having today. I hope you all understand.
I love this work, I know it is the work of the Lord. I know the
Book of Mormon is true, I know God and Jesus Christ live, Jesus Christ is our
Lord and Saviour, our prayers are heard and answered, we have living prophets
and apostles on the earth today, life is good:) Party on! (Shout out to uncle
Sean)
Weekly Scripture: Alma 37:37 37
Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea,
when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over
you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of
thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last
day.
